CELEBRATE WINTER
The Backcountry Film Festival is a year-round, community program presented by Winter Wildlands Alliance that celebrates human-powered, backcountry-inspired stories rooted in wild snowscapes, stewardship and stoke.
Every winter, BCFF tours 100+ cities and is hosted by local retailers, grassroots groups, outdoor affinity groups, and many more community organizations. Funds raised stay in the local community to support human-powered recreation and conservation efforts, winter education and avalanche/safety programs and to raise awareness of winter management issues.
The 19th Annual Backcountry Film Festival is screening documentaries and ski movies about athletic pursuit in the mountains, artistic vision, friendship, and how the snowsports community is adapting to a changing environment. MEET YOUR HOSTS
This year, the BCFF is being brought to Girdwood by your local non-profit SnowSchool provider, the Kenai Mountains - Turnagain Arm Corridor Communities Association (KMTA CCA), in partnership with Our Winter World and Alyeska Resort.
KMTA CCA works in and on behalf of the congressionally-designated Kenai Mountains - Turnagain Arm National Heritage Area. We provide education programs like SnowSchool, recreation events, and work with community on grassroots projects that include art, heritage preservation, trail maintenance, and much more. We are proud to be among the many excellent community organizations in the region and we thank you for your support of winter outdoor education for local youth!
