About this event
In fall 2023, Ruth Pion, the first fellow in the newly established “Threatened Dominican Scholars Fellowship Program”, made possible by a grant from the Mellon Foundation, is in residence at the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute (DSI). During this conversation held in the Dominican Studies Library, Ruth is joined by Gina Goico (doctoral student at Cornell University and CUNY DSI research fellow 2022) and by discussant TBD. They address a series of topics that include academic and artistic censorship, discrimination, and the social prohibition of their work in the Dominican Republic and in Dominican spaces abroad. The conversation will be followed by an open Q&A session with the audience.
