Join us for a special family-friendly concert where young music lovers can get up close and personal with the four families of the symphony orchestra! The event kicks off with an instrument petting zoo, giving students a hands-on experience with real orchestral instruments. During the concert, we’ll perform shorter engaging pieces to showcase the unique sounds of each instrument family—strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Plus, a few lucky children may be selected to sit within the orchestra itself for an unforgettable experience! It’s the perfect way to introduce kids to the magic of live music.
Musical Selections Includ:
- Leonard Bernstein – Overture to Candide
- Edvard Grieg – Holberg Suite, Op. 40 – Praeludium
- Gabriel Fauré – Pavane, Op. 50
- Johannes Brahms – Hungarian Dance No. 5
- Pyotr Ilyitch Tchaikovsky – Swan Lake Suite, Op. 20a – “Scène”
- Aaron Copland – Fanfare for the Common Man
- Randall DeBruyn – Concertino for Chamber Orchestra and Percussion – Interlude
