In collaboration with the “Spirit Paranormal” ghost hunting team, Mitchell’s Miracles Charity welcomes you to join them for a night not to be missed!!
“Spirit Paranormal” are a team of professional ghost hunters, founded by the lovely Jan Saunders. They organise ghost hunting events, visiting some of the most haunted locations in the UK, “Harwich Fort” being one of them.
The Fort is one of the top places in Essex for paranormal activity. The fort, built back in 1808, is a circular structure and is completely surrounded by a very deep moat. The fort was used to defend Essex against Napoleonic, it also became useful during world war 1 and 2.
Harwich, is alleged to be haunted by a young woman and child. It is said that a young woman married a soldier and got pregnant. When he went off to fight, he got scared and deserted his unit. The rest of the wives and soldiers proceeded to treat the wife left behind so badly, that she took herself and her child and jumped off the top of the fort one night.
The fort is also said to be haunted by the apparition of a headless soldier. It is reported that in 1972 a soldier was decapitated by a cable attached to a 12-ton cannon which broke under the strain. The soldier has been reported to be walking within the grounds of the fort headless and sometimes with his head tucked under his arms…creepy.
To date, the fort has been lovingly restored by a dedicated group of volunteers known as The Harwich Society and can be hired for use by ghost hunting teams.
The Spirit Paranormal team will be bringing various paranormal equipment for you to sample, including:
K2’s, REM pods, trail cameras, music boxes, SLS’s, lasers, Dictaphones and more.

Just when you thought it was over...you can take this experience a little further, there is an option to bed down in the fort. You can pitch a tent up in the moat area and have a 360 view of the surrounding spooky area… “Whatever You Do, Don’t Fall Asleep.”
Fancy dress is optional, but there will be a ghostbusting prize for the best costume.
