๐Ÿพ Step With Us: Healing4Heroes Virtual 5K ๐Ÿพ

We are the veterans, first responders, and kids of veterans whose lives have been changed by Healing4Heroes. Some of us live with Parkinson’s, MS, diabetes, or cancer. Others carry the scars of trauma or raise children with disabilities. Many of us came into this program feeling hopeless, isolated, and unsure of our future.

Then Healing4Heroes gave us something we never expected: a lifeline.

Through this program, we were paired with service dogs who are calm, reliable, and incredibly well-behaved. These dogs are not just companions — they are trained partners who bring us safety, independence, and dignity. For some of us, they’ve made it possible to walk into public again. For others, they’ve interrupted panic attacks, steadied shaky hands, bought us medicines, helped us up after falls, or simply reminded us that we’re not alone.

We’ve been through this program together, and we’ve seen what it does: it saves lives. It saved ours.

But there are so many more people waiting. Veterans still struggling. First responders weighed down by the calls they can’t forget. Kids who need the comfort of a service dog by their side.

That’s why we’re asking you to join the Healing4Heroes Virtual 5K.

๐Ÿ’™ Why Weโ€™re Asking

  • 22 veterans a day are lost to suicide — far too many.

  • Help us help these heroes on Veterans Day.

  • The highest suicide rate among veterans right now is Black female veterans. Healing4Heroes is one of the few programs reaching them.

  • Every dog trained and placed means another life saved, another family supported, another hero given hope.

We are proof that this program works. We are proof that these dogs are more than pets — they are life-saving partners.

"I’m a veteran living with Parkinson’s. My service dog steadies me when I walk — he gave me back my freedom.”

“I’m a first responder who couldn’t sleep because of the calls I carried with me. My dog wakes me from nightmares and reminds me I’m safe.”

“I’m 10 years old, and I trained with my dad, a veteran. I want to be a trainer when I grow up because Healing4Heroes helped my family.”

“I’m living with MS. Before my service dog, I was scared to leave my house. Now I feel safe again.”

“I’m a veteran mom battling cancer. My dog gives me the strength to keep going for my kids.”

These are just a few of our stories. Healing4Heroes has saved lives, restored dignity, and given hope where illness and trauma had taken it away. The dogs in this program are calm, dependable, and life-changing partners. But there are still so many of us waiting. That’s why we’re inviting you to join the Healing4Heroes Virtual 5K.

Run, walk, or roll anytime, anywhere. Every mile helps rescue, train, and place another service dog with someone who needs them most.

Together, step by step, we can make sure no hero is left behind.
