The Red Jacket Jamboree is a NEW old-time radio variety show sharing stories, songs and history from Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula.  Hosted by Lena Dorey, the show is recorded in front of a live audience inside the RPM studio at the Keweenaw Storytelling Center in downtown Calumet. The show also features Martin Achatz, two-Time Poet Laureate of the U.P.,the Red Jacket Actors and music by the Copper Cats, with Jerry Younce on guitar, Bill Carrothers on piano, Harry South on bass and Zach Ott on percussion.
Julie McIntosh began her professional career in New York City in the 1980’s as lead vocalist with bands "The Shakes" and "Wreckless Abandon."  Julie moved through the musical genres of  jazz, rock and pop until landing in the world of Rhythm and Blues. She performed with drummer  Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, guitarist Billy Hector, and keyboardist, Tony Z and recorded with the acclaimed blues and gospel trio- the Homes Brothers. She's opened for notable performers including: Buddy Guy, Son Seals, L’il Ed and The Blues Imperials, and  Luther “Guitar” Jr. Johnson.‚Äč
Storyteller Jeff Doyle started telling stories around the campfire at the family campout when his kids were elementary age.  His first story was The Blue Ape, which the kids asked to hear over and over again.  Before long, the kids were requesting new material and Jeff eagerly took to the task, eventually becoming the hit of campfire time.
He joined the Ann Arbor Storytellers’ Guild in 2005 and his passion for developing and refining this art form has only intensified with each performance. Jeff enjoys telling all types of tales, but specializes in funny stories and scary stories, which range from the somewhat scary to the truly terrifying.
The Red Jacket Jamboree is produced by Real People Media, a nonprofit helping people share their stories through the literary, visual, performing and media arts.
