About this event
There is a moment here, just before the day lets go, when everything softens.
The light drops low across the pastures, turning dust into gold and every movement into something worth watching. The air cools, the pace shifts, and the animals, who have spent the heat of the day resting, come fully back to life.
This is that moment.
Join us for an evening at the sanctuary during golden hour, when over 20 different species settle into the rhythm of the evening and the entire landscape feels alive in a quieter, deeper way.
On these evenings, Alpine Eatery will be onsite serving dinner and beverages available for purchase, giving you the chance to turn your visit into a full night out. Come with friends, bring someone you love, or make space for something meaningful in the middle of a busy summer.
As the sun lowers, you’ll move through the sanctuary, meeting residents where they are, watching relationships unfold, and experiencing a side of this work that most people never get to see.
And then, together, we close the day.
Gates get latched, evening hay is set, birds find their perches, and everyone settles. You’ll be part of the quiet transition into night, something simple that carries more meaning than it seems.
If you’ve been here before, you’ve never seen it like this.
If you haven’t, this is the way to begin.
Come watch the day end in a place built on second chances.

Visitor Guidelines
Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary is a safe place for animals rescued from abuse, neglect, slaughter, and exploitation. We do not breed or sell animals.
This is not a petting zoo. While many of the animals enjoy affection, they are not here for entertainment. They are individuals living their lives, and you are being invited into their space.
Please move gently, respect their boundaries, and allow them to choose how they interact. Some will come right up to you. Others may prefer distance. Both are equally important.
Many of our residents are elderly, healing, or living with chronic conditions. Our care is guided by long-term wellbeing and veterinary support, which may not always match outside expectations. We are always happy to answer questions and share more about their care.
Above all, this is a place built on trust. Thank you for being part of that when you visit.
