Reid State Community College proudly welcomes Coach Butch Thompson, Auburn University’s head baseball coach, as the featured speaker for our Lions’ First Pitch Dinner. Now entering his 11th season at the helm, Coach Thompson has built one of the nation’s most respected collegiate baseball programs through his emphasis on leadership, discipline, and player development.

A native of Amory, Mississippi, Coach Thompson brings more than three decades of coaching experience—25 of those in the SEC. Under his guidance, Auburn has made two College World Series appearances, achieved six top-25 national rankings, and produced more than 40 MLB draft picks, including No. 1 overall pick Casey Mize. Known for his ability to mold overlooked talent into elite competitors, Thompson’s influence extends far beyond the diamond.

Honored as the 2014 National Assistant Coach of the Year and the 2006 FCA SEC Coach of the Year, he is celebrated for his character, integrity, and faith-centered leadership style. His message resonates with athletes, students, and community members alike.

Coach Thompson and his wife, Robin, make their home in Auburn, where they enjoy time with their three daughters—Anna, Olivia, and Madelyn Gail—and two grandchildren.
