About this event

The Red Jacket Jamboree invites you to be part of the live studio audience for the recording of two new radio episodes: "The Kalevala" and "Luck of the Irish" with guests Lisa and Ingemar Johansson. The hourlong episodes are recorded for later radio broadcast.

Ingemar and Lisa Johansson live the good life in the rolling hills of northern Lower Michigan. They dwell in a rich wellspring of influence, soul and sound craft with their music. They have toured widely as a duo and as members of the acclaimed band "Song of the Lakes."

Ingemar writes his songs with the muse of the natural world in his pocket. His voice and strings hold solid earth rhythms and melodies with an introspective and poetic verse. The interplay with Lisa's artistry on her flutes in the vein of baroque, blues and rock with a twist of scandi-celtic flair is savory and refined like a good Swedish aquavit.  They're a fitting duo for our show themes: "The Kalevala" and "Luck of the Irish."  Come listen to this fabulous duo who play from their hearts in a blend of original and traditional world music!

The Red Jacket Jamboree is a NEW old-time radio variety show sharing stories, songs and history from Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula.  Hosted by Lena Dorey, the show is recorded in front of a live audience inside the RPM studio at the Keweenaw Storytelling Center in downtown Calumet.
