About this event
Mary Doria Russell will discuss her book, The Women of the Copper Country. This is the story of a 25-year-old Anna Clemenc who bravely stood up for striking miners and their families in 1913, and offers a historical look at the early labor movement and copper mining in Calumet, Michigan. Widely praised for meticulous research, fine prose, and the compelling narrative drive of her stories, Mary Doria Russell is the award-winning author of seven bestselling novels. The Women of the Copper Country has been chosen as a Great Michigan Read by Michigan Humanities
Following the talk will be a 50 minute walking tour of Calumet "Through Anna's Eyes" conducted by the Keweenaw Storytelling Center.  This program is made possible with a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council.
The in person presentation is free but tickets required.  This link will be shared prior to the event.    The walking tour is limited in size.  More information to follow.
