Meditating with Hildegard of Bingen

April 21—May 26

Experience Hildegard’s Spirituality Through Reflection on

Her Words, Music, and Art

“Her call to bind the wounds of the earth, to live justly and compassionately, to cocreate with God makes her a stirring and challenging companion for the spiritual journey.” ~Gloria Durka, Praying with Hildegard of Bingen

This 6-week program offers the chance to immerse yourself in the words, music, and art of Hildegard of Bingen through silent meditation, individual and group reflection, and connection with the divine, yourself, and others. Hildegard’s wisdom nurtures us and inspires us to live passionately, especially during turbulent times.

Each one-hour session will include a guided opening meditation, a highlight from Hildegard’s life and works, personal reflection time, sharing, and a closing thought. The group will use Holy Listening rather than advising or problem-solving. In this way, you open yourself to Spirit and the mystery of the inner voice. You are invited to move away from the familiar intellectual, doctrinal, or head-based perspectives and instead embrace a heart-centered approach to finding meaning and exploring your questions.

These one-hour meditation sessions are offered weekly for six weeks via Zoom: Tuesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Eastern, April 21 through May 26. They are led by Betsy Perry, a Hildegard of Bingen pilgrim, who has immersed herself in Hildegard’s teachings both in her spiritual practice and in the kitchen (Hildegard Bread is healthy and tasty) after attending Saint Hildegard’s Feast Day in Rudesheim am Rhein, Germany in 2014. Betsy also brings her years of healthcare experience as a nurse, teacher, and manager into retirement (which she calls “advancement”), as well as into her roles as a Spiritual Director and Kundalini Yoga teacher. Betsy has led a Mystic Series, a Living Legacy Series, and dream groups, and offers individual Spiritual Direction.
