We are excited to invite you to a special event featuring Ray Hilborn, a leading fisheries scientist whose research focuses on sustainable fisheries management and the global role of fish in food systems. With his extensive experience in fisheries data analysis, management, and fieldwork on Pacific salmon, Ray will provide an in-depth Salmon Update on the current state of salmon populations and conservation efforts in Alaska and beyond.
Ray’s groundbreaking work includes the RAM Legacy Stock Assessment Database, which tracks over 500 major fish stocks worldwide, representing about 40% of the global catch. He has also conducted pioneering research on the environmental impacts of various food production systems, and his studies often address controversial topics such as bottom trawling, the impact of Marine Protected Areas on fish yields, and the overall sustainability of global fisheries.
