About this event

South Fulton Arts presents Connect: A Playreading Series featuring Smart People, a play by Lydia R. Diamond directed by Lee Osorio.

Synopsis: It is the eve of Obama's first election. Four of Harvard University's brightest; a surgeon, an actress, a psychologist, and a neuro-psychiatrist, are all interested in different aspects of the brain, particularly how it responds to race. But like all smart people, they are also searching for love, success, and identity in their own lives. Lydia Diamond brings these characters together in this sharp, witty play about social and sexual politics.

Doors open at 7PM for a 7:30PM start time. Stick around after the reading for a talkback facilitated by Kristin Couch.

Connect is a play-reading series that is part of SFA's larger Courageous Conversations programming. Professional actors read the script of a play that discusses moving topics at venues across South Fulton County. We invite the community to participate by listening to the actors read the script and have a facilitated talk back to discuss the main issues in the play with a subject matter expert facilitating the conversation; our previous facilitators have included Dr. Tiffany Russell, Kristin Couch, LMSW, Gender-based Violence Practitioner and Curtis King and Garry Yates, Co-Founders of Reentry Arts Connection.
