About this event
CCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with 17 state chapters and a national membership exceeding 100,000. CCA is recognized as the pre-eminent marine conservation association representing the interests of recreational saltwater anglers. All funds raised through our banquet remain in Mississippi, with membership fees supporting CCA’s national organization. A few recent CCA state and national activities include:
State and Local Activities
- Live Catch Trout Tournaments - multiple “Live Catch” tournaments to provide speckled trout to the GCRL hatchery for brood stock in the S.P.E.C. program. Over 750,000 speckled trout fingerlings have been released in Mississippi waters in the past 5 years.
- Youth Fishing Tournaments – 12 years of Casting for Conservation Kid’s Fishing Rodeos, currently approaching one thousand four hundred (1,800) kids entered per year. This year we are hosting the Junior Jubilee, a coast-wide, summer-long tournament for anglers 3-15.
- Governmental Relations – consistent engagement with the Commission on Marine Resources and state agencies to provide input for recreational fishermen in fishery management issues.
- High School Education – Instituting High School CCA clubs to engage students.
- Scholarship – CCA Bay Chapter Scholarship Program provides a scholarship to High School Seniors. Due to a lack of funds, we had to suspend this program. With your help, we hope to bring it back in 2026.
- Coastal Cleanup - active leadership role in the Annual Mississippi Coastal Cleanup.
- Restore Act – ensuring that restoration funds are maximized for coastal fishery projects.
National Activities
- Saving Essential Fish Habitat – CCA MS is working to halt the removal of rigs in the Gulf without consideration of the loss of habitat and impact on fisheries.
- Federally Managed Fish Stocks – CCA provides crucial leadership and actively participates with the Gulf Council to ensure that consideration is given to the voice of recreational anglers in managing essential fish stocks such as red snapper, amberjack, grouper, and other species.
We hope you honor us by providing monetary or in-kind support and by attending our banquet. Our Sponsor of Marine Conservation Levels listed on the reverse of this letter highlight the benefits, including tickets, memberships, raffles, gift specials, and recognition of your support. Your support of this event and CCA Mississippi impacts recreational anglers beyond our membership and helps to preserve our marine resources for future generations.
