Proceeds from the gala will fund an additional $5,000 in scholarships for Lowndes County students and other projects aimed at advancing TEBI's mission of economic opportunity and community empowerment.

Community Empowerment Forum: Civic Engagement, Voter Education and Economic Opportunity, Saturday, October 24, 2026

The Elmore Bolling Initiative will convene a community event focused on voter education, civic participation, and economic empowerment. This gathering will bring together community members, local leaders, and subject-matter experts to explore the issues shaping our neighborhoods, strengthen informed civic engagement, and examine the connections among public policy, economic opportunity, and building generational wealth.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the voting process, discuss issues affecting their communities, connect with local organizations, and explore strategies that encourage informed participation in the democratic process while advancing opportunities for long-term community prosperity.

Lowndes County Tour, Sunday, October, 25, 2026

The weekend wraps up with a morning tour of Lowndes County where Elmore Bolling developed his integrated array of businesses and amassed his wealth—the very success that angered local white residents, whose deadly violence reflected a nationwide pattern of white supremacist terrorism targeting Black economic competitors. Experience the settings of Josephine Bolling McCall's book, The Penalty for Success, where Elmore Bolling lived and left his mark.

Some of the historic sites on the tour include Lowndesboro School with its new History Revealed marker, SNCC Freedom Complex, Lowndes County Interpretive Center, Elmore Bolling Historic Site, and Selma to Montgomery March Campsite 3. This tour, with commentary by Josephine Bolling McCall and others, will provide a deeper understanding of Lowndes County’s profound impact on the Civil Rights Movement.

About this event

Please join us for The Elmore Bolling Initiative's biennial fundraiser weekend in Montgomery, Alabama. Our theme is “From Foundation to Future: Rebuilding Today to Shape Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

The Weekend is an invitation to honor the past while investing in the future. Throughout this three-day experience, guests will celebrate the courage, resilience, and community leadership that defines Elmore Bolling’s legacy while helping create new opportunities for the next generation.

The weekend begins with Friday evening's Gala, where supporters will unite to raise money for scholarships for Lowndes County students, and other endeavors to empower today’s citizens of the region. On Saturday, attendees will engage in meaningful conversations centered on economic empowerment and voter education, examining how informed civic participation, financial opportunity, and community collaboration strengthen pathways to generational wealth. The weekend concludes on Sunday with a guided tour of Lowndes County where Elmore Bolling built his businesses and raised his family, setting an example of determination and resilience that helped shape the Civil Rights Movement.

Together, these events reflect TEBI's mission to tell the full history, inspire action, expand opportunity, and ensure that the lessons of the past continue to build a stronger future for generations to come.
