About this event
TOSC Member Hike with Hiking Bob: Aiken Canyon
Sun., August 4th , starts at 9:00 AM
The hike is moderate, and the loop is approximately 3.5 miles. If time permits, we will add a side hike on a spur trail (this part is rated easy) about half way through the loop that will add 2 miles to the hike (5.5 total)
Directions: The Aiken Canyon Preserve Trailhead is located on Turkey Canyon Ranch Road, about 200yds west of Hwy 115. Turkey Canyon Ranch Road is about 12 miles south of Academy Blvd on Hwy 115.
Things to know: Much of this hike is in the open, so bring sunscreen and plenty of water and snacks Be prepared for rain, and wear appropriate footwear. This property is owned by the Nature Conservancy, and their rules prohibit bikes, dogs and anything motorized. The preserve is known for it's birding activity, so bring binoculars. The trail gets very muddy after it rains, so if there is recent rainfall before the hike, we may have to cancel, so as not to cause any unnecessary damage.
