Tall Ship Windy- Tallgrass Sudbury Private Sail

Attention Tallgrass Families! We are hosting a private sail on the Tall Ship Windy as the finale of the 2026 Global Self-Directed Democratic School Conference, and we want you to join us!  A perfect chance for students to get together in the summer to spend a day together, for families to reconnect, and to get an opportunity to spend time and ask questions to staff members from other schools practicing the Sudbury model!  

Come relax on a 90-minute sail on a 148-ft 4-masted schooner right here in Chicago! Rick will be providing historical stories of life on the Great Lakes and those who sign up will get a chance to vote on the topic of the stories! 

FAQ: Will it be too bumpy and rough?  I have motion sickness: Nothing to worry about! The Windy is far less bumpy than a bus or train and usually easier than even being in a car!

Am I safe out on the water?:  Completely. The captains and crew of the Tall Ship Windy are experts on the water and trained to help passengers, young and old, feel at ease while they are out on their adventure.  

Do I get to hoist the sails?:  Absolutely, 100% Yes, if you want to!
