About this event

How often are we really present for what is happening in any one moment? Distractibility interferes with our ability to listen, to focus, to respond, and to feel fully alive.

Deep Presence is a course in the cultivation of attention without tension. With warmth and humor, Shinge Roshi will share simple meditation techniques, including breathing, posture, and basic principles of awareness. She will also lead a guided discussion that can help participants develop new insights and appropriate responses.

Shinge Roshi will teach simple meditation techniques, including breath, posture, and basic principles of awareness. Afterwards, our group discussion will focus on breaking free of old patterns so that we can respond with wisdom and compassion no matter how difficult the circumstances of our lives may be. The course is designed for new meditators as well as for those with more experience who wish to renew the strength of their practice.

Deep Presence is a five-week course in the cultivation of inner stillness and clear insight offered by Shinge Sherry Chayat Roshi, Abbot of the Zen Center, in-person at the Zen Center or online via Zoom.

Five Tuesday evenings, 6-7:30 p.m., March 17 – April 14, 2025.
