About this event

The Box Factory for the Arts will present a special evening of live music on Saturday, October 3, featuring Chicago folk music legend Mark Dvorak with opening act The Thorntons.

Mark Dvorak was dubbed “Chicago’s Official Troubadour” on the renowned Midnight Special national radio program. Since the early 1980s, his career has taken him across the country, performing more than 200 shows each year and releasing multiple albums.

Long associated with the celebrated Chicago School of Folk Music, Mark is an instructor and performer specializing in folk guitar and banjo. A gifted songwriter and storyteller, he carries forward the traditions of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Bob Dylan while bringing his own contemporary voice and perspective to the music.

Opening the evening, The Thorntons—Mathew and Sherri—present an artful blend of acoustic music, combining guitars and keys in a creative mix of traditional and progressive folk. Audiences can expect beautiful harmonies, excellent musicianship, and a few laughs along the way.

Mathew has previously performed at the Box Factory with his band, the Bucktown Ramblers, and is looking forward to reuniting with friends and fans from Southwest Michigan for this special evening.

Join us Saturday, October 3, for an evening of authentic folk music, storytelling, beautiful harmonies, and good company at the Box Factory for the Arts.
