Dominican Resistance to the U.S. Occupation of the Dominican Republic, 1916-1924

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the U.S. occupation and the departure of the remaining U.S. troops from the Dominican Republic, the CUNY Dominican Studies (CUNY DSI) presents a conference featuring distinguished speakers from the Dominican Republic and the United States.

The event includes two panels:

• Panel 1 - Friday, September 27, 3pm-5pm: Dominican resistance to the US occupation and its impact on inter-American relations

Speakers:

• Dr. Alan McPherson, Professor of History, Temple University, author of The Invaded: How Latin Americans and Their Allies Fought and Ended U.S. Occupations (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2014)
• Dr. Ellen D. Tillman, Associate Professor of History, Texas State University, author of Dollar Diplomacy by Force: Nation-Building and Resistance in the Dominican Republic (University of North Carolina Press, 2016)

• Panel 2 - Friday, September 27, 6pm-8pm: Actores, memoria e ideologías de la resistencia dominicana en contra de la ocupación estadounidense de la República Dominicana
