About this event

This remarkable jazz ensemble, led by saxophonist Dominic Carioti, will perform their own original compositions as well as arrangements of the music from composers such as John Coltrane.

DOMINIC CARIOTI is a composer, educator, and performer based in Brooklyn. Born into a family of musicians, he received a bachelor's in jazz performance from The Ohio State University and a master's from Western Michigan University. Dominic hosts a weekly jazz jam session at the Fiction Bar/Café in Williamsburg and is a member of a jazz fusion band Mercury. The W.D. Packard Big Band of Warren, Ohio, recently featured three of his jazz big band arrangements. He currently teaches at Belle Arti Center for the Arts.

SAM WEBER is an acoustic and electric bassist, composer, arranger, and educator based in Brooklyn. A native of Kalamazoo, Sam earned a bachelor’s in jazz studies and a master’s in music from Western Michigan University. Since relocating to NYC in 2012, Sam has performed with an eclectic community of musicians at some of the world’s top venues. Sam is also active as an educator and has presented clinics, lectures, and master classes around the U.S. and overseas.

JULIA CHEN grew up in Brooklyn learning music by ear before earning a bachelor’s in jazz performance and psychology from Oberlin College and Conservatory in Ohio. She plays piano and keyboards with bands of all genres. Her first EP, 2018’s “Silver Spoons,” was followed by 2020’s “Unspooling,” her trio’s album of originals and collaborative works. Julia performs with the all-female salsa band Lulada Club, Alex Asher Quartet, and Reginald Chapman’s Pressure Fit.

EVAN HYDE is a New York-based drummer and composer. He has performed with jazz greats such as George Coleman, Freddy Cole, Houston Person, Shelly Berg, and Stanley Jordan. He was a member of Betty Carter’s “Jazz Ahead” residency in 2015, and received honorable mention in the ASCAP Foundation’s Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards in 2018. “Coda (Momento),” his 2020 EP of originals, is available for streaming and download on Bandcamp.
