Objectives:

  1. To review historical differences between “organic” and “functional” medical conditions
  2. To identify acute and chronic medical conditions that may be misdiagnosed as psychiatric symptoms/disorders or behavioral disturbances.
  3. To provide strategies for the timely identification and management of medical conditions in correctional settings to reduce morbidity and mortality.
  4. To provide case studies that demonstrate the “pitfalls” of management of “The Great Imitators” in the correctional setting.
