The Austin Civic Orchestra partners again with The University of Texas at Austin for the 10th Texas Rising Stars concert at Bates Recital Hall. The winners of the Butler School of Music’s String Concerto Competition perform concerti accompanied by the orchestra.

This collaborative concert between the Butler School of Music and Austin Civic Orchestra was conceived by UT professor Brian Lewis and is funded in part by the David and Mary Winton Green Chair in String Performance and Pedagogy.
This concert is free admission – a gift to the Austin community.
Come at 6:45 PM to hear the pre-concert talk "We Don't Talk About Pluto: Holst's Missing Planet" presented by Associate Conductor Dr. W.P. Gus Sterneman in room 2.614.

Nicht zu schnell (1st movement) performed by Katsuaki Arakawa - Sibelius: Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47
Allegro, ma non tanto (3rd movement) performed by Ellie Sievers - Holst: The Planets with interludes composed by Laura Mercado-Wright and performed by VAMP Vocals, Austin Cantorum, and UT Chamber Treble Choir,
