MONTREAL: INSPIRE BY FIGHTING MONKEY with Alanna Kraaijeveld

Monday and Wednesday

10am to 12pm

 

This series of classes is designed to meet practice needs of movers from various disciplines, experience, and age. All are welcome.

The aim is to expand our physical capacity, nurture our elasticity, and release tension, move and explore with greater awareness of how dynamic contexts unlock our ability, and support our development.  Classes are recurring and rigorous, to support continuity of learning and development.

 

We will explore the quality of our movement and listening through encounters with
Joint Articulation
Coordination
Improvisation 

Body / Body practice
Movement Situations (meet objects Practice Ball, martial arts belt, wood blocks, etc.)

 

$300.00 for full series (2x 2 hrs per week for five weeks, 20 hours total)

OR 

$150.00 for half series (1x 2hrs per week for five weeks, 10 hours total)
OR

$30.00 for single class (1x single class, 2 hours total)

ACCESSIBILITY

Workshop is delivered in english and french
Espace 215 studio is equipped with a wood floor.  The studio is located on the 3rd floor, and is accessible by stairs only

 

Sessions are comprised of :
Joint Articulations
– Standing, on place, focused on spiral movements
– Continuous demonstration style that participants follow

 

Coordinations
- explore the quality of mobility of our joints through multi plane, multi joint coordination patterns that dance through space
- Continuous demonstration style that participants follow

 

Improvisations
– Individually explore qualitative or task-based improvisations
– Demonstration and voice provide visual and verbal cues, after which it is up to the participants to manifest each proposition
– We take our time with each proposition
– Work takes place standing as well as on the floor, and can be adapted if needed

 

Body / Body practice

- work in contact with a partner

- task or point-of-connection based dances are set in motion verbally and through demonstration

 

Movement Situations
- task-based dances with the FM practice ball or martial arts belt
- explored with a partner
- We take our time with each proposition
– Work takes place standing as well as on the floor, and can be adapted if needed
