Immersive Walking Tour of Seattle's "Lost" Cemetery!
About this event
HONOR THE DEAD! BRING BACK THE DARKNESS!
On the wheel of the year, after the long summer days and joyous fall harvest festivals we will soon reach the shortest darkest days of the year. On the weekend of the Day of the Dead, we invite you to go behind the veil and explore liminal spaces on the longer nights of the year.
Learn the challenges and mysteries that faced the burial space for 3,260 people on the banks of the Duwamish River from 1876-1912.
What happened when the Army Corps of Engineers sought to turn land deemed "useless" into valuable industrial tracts?
Walk in the footsteps of the 3,260 souls and see for yourself what happened to Seattle's old Potter's Field.
Join Cari Simson and Elke Hautala on a theatrical and immersive walking tour in Georgetown through the stories and spaces surrounding the "lost" cemetery.
-Imagine the old King County Poor Farm
-See where the Crematorium used to be
-Visit a bend in the Duwamish River near the old Potter's Field
-Enjoy visits from spooky spirits
Rain or shine. Bring your own umbrella!
Meeting location will be disclosed to ticket holders.
*Please note that there is no restroom at the start/end of the tour. You will be walking roundtrip from the starting point on uneven gravel and paved surfaces over 1/2 mile without sidewalks, so sturdy closed-toe shoes are highly recommended. Please contact us for any mobility accommodations at invisiblehistoriespnw@gmail.
We can't wait to show you where the stories are buried!
