About this event

Country Queen is a laugh out loud coming-of-age story by tour de force writer-performer Patty Irwin. This outrageous one-woman musical comedy follows “Country Queen” from her home, home on the range (New Jersey) all the way to Broadway, Nashville…or so she thinks. When she mistakenly winds up in New York City, she seeks solace in the first country bar she finds- Flaming Saddles- where she’s lassoed into a whirlwind night out at the Gay bars of NYC, experiencing Queer culture for the first time and loving it! But the supportive embrace of her new Queer friends is not enough to shield her from the darkest evil she’ll find in New York City: the Brooklyn dating scene. Her Meemaw taught her that a woman’s job is to find the perfect man and devote your life to him (and occasionally be a C*nt). In her messy quest for love, Country Queen instead finds lack of commitment, casual sex, and bacterial vaginosis. But along the way, she learns to challenge her long-held beliefs about a woman’s role in relationships with men, and eventually even challenges her own identity and what will make her happy. Ultimately, Country Queen is a tale of losing and finding yourself, bedazzled with hilarious original country music and an ungodly number of cooter jokes.
