About this event

Beat the heat at camp with fantastic fish! Campers will explore the world of fishes (yes, fishes!) by looking for, collecting, and identifying fishes commonly found in the area. After a crash course in local fishes and fish anatomy, campers will learn about and practice seining from shore, using a wide net to safely collect live fish. Campers will get the opportunity to handle fish (or not if they would rather look only), learning techniques on fish handling, safe for both humans and fish. Campers will practice fish identification skills and make note of what kinds of fish they saw as good scientists make notes of their observations! All fish will be collected with a permit and safely released at the end of camp. Ages 6+.
