About this event

Join us on Saturday, August 17th for a fun, free waterway bike tour around the Legacy Loop in Colorado Springs. This tour will connect community members to local water and recreation resources through an approximately 10 mile mostly flat pedaling tour. We are planning for an after-ride social gathering at the last stop, which is right across the street from the start location. A food option is being explored, we'll share details as we have them!

Both tour days start at the COS Sustainacenter with convenient parking and facilities. The ride will follow the Legacy Loop trail system, starting along Shooks Run with the first planned stop at Concrete Coyote. We will connect to the Pikes Peak Greenway after transiting through the Enchanted Forest and will make our way around the ‘Loop, stopping at a number of locations where you’ll hear from local content experts.

• What are the Shooks Run, Monument Creek, Fountain Creek, and Arkansas River watersheds?

• Why is water quality important? What is stormwater?

• How is Colorado Springs conserving water and planning for future water supply?

• How are community partners connecting neighborhoods to trails and creeks?

• How can maintaining pipes allow us to restore creeks?

• How do we ensure waterways are healthy? How can you protect stream health?

We thank our partners at the City of Colorado Springs Stormwater Enterprise and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, Colorado Springs Utilities, Trails and Open Space Coalition, Fountain Creek Watershed District, and Concrete Couch for making this tour possible. We look forward to a fun and educational day along the Legacy Loop!

While most of the route is on paved and hard-packed surfaces, the transit through the Concrete Coyote and Enchanted Forest properties are on somewhat rough surfaces, so a bike with wider tires and appropriate footwear for walking short distances are most appropriate.

Helmets are required and we recommend sunscreen and water. Each day will be limited to 30 riders. Riders must be 18 years old or older. Register in advance to ride.

If you have any questions about the ride email Jerry.Cordova@coloradosprings.gov
