About this event
Step into Weber House and Garden this December for an intimate, candlelit journey through the many lives of Christmas. Every Tuesday and Thursday before the holiday, guests will explore Ted Weber’s enchanting storybook home—guided personally by Bill Phelan and Ted Weber—as they illuminate how Christmas evolved from its ancient Saturnalian roots to early American simplicity, Victorian nostalgia, the birth of modern Santa Claus, and even the curious tales of Krampus and the Eggnog Riots. Lit entirely by warm candlelight, the tour blends history, storytelling, and the unmistakable charm of the Weber House itself, offering a rare glimpse into holidays past and the magic that still lingers in every room. It's a cozy, atmospheric experience unlike anything else in Illinois—an invitation to slow down, step back in time, and rediscover the wonder of Christmas.
Please Note: This tour discusses the history of Christmas including the evolution of Santa Claus, so be aware it might not be suitable for young children.
