About this event
Miss Major Alex L Lee TGIJP presents a Celebration of Scorpio Abolitionists
This is for All Scorpios and Everyone who loves us. ;)
THERE WILL BE A LINE FOR THOSE WHO PURCHASE PRE-SALE TICKETS THAT GUARANTEES YOUR ENTRANCE FROM 3 PM-6 PM
(AFTER 6 PM YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE WITH THOSE PURCHASING TICKETS AT THE DOOR)
Join us at EL RIO for a night of uplifting Scorpios! Our Founders Alex L Lee and Miss Major (Rest In Power) are scorpios. Our former executive director, and now CEO, Janetta Johnson is a scorpio. Our current Executive Director is a scorpio. And former staff and current staff are also scorpios. We believe in the magic of scorpios particularly with an abolitionist politic. As per usual, we are partying against the prison industrial complex through raising money for Miss Major and Alexander L Lee’s child: TGIJP Black Trans Cultural Center, an organization dedicated to ending human rights abuses against Transgender, Gender Variant, and Intersex people, particularly Black trans women that are in locked facilities (Detention Centers, Jails, Prisons, Psych Wards, Foster-Care. etc) in California, Florida, Nationally, and Internationally!
OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $100K by end of year by Donors ALONE!
(We've Raised 27k with our first Fundraiser, can you help match Bustin Out?!)
To go directly to Miss Major’s Legacy Fund including but not limited to:
Support The Black Trans Cultural Center Mortgage to solidify the inheritance of Miss Major’s Legacy and Organization by and for Black Trans People
If You Can’t Make It - You can Still Donate HERE!
We understand Miss Major to accept everyone and she also knew that not everyone accepted her community - specifically Black Trans Immigrants, Youth, and System-Impacted People.
You don't want to miss the DJ's and performers we have in store:
Jasmine Infiniti will be doing a Tribute to Mama Major.
Be there by 5 PM to see her performance, and experience Black Trans Women’s Art!
This event is all about raising what the bottom looks like for Community as #MamaMajorTaughtUs to pull the girls out from UNDER the bus. And so that is why our CEO says “Reentry has to come with a paycheck” to model a reparative level of healing systemic harm. Every dollar of the Scorpio Abolitionist Party is going to support Miss Major’s Legacy for our Trans Queer GNC Non Binary and TGI communities.
We have Daily Programs from Monday - Friday including:
Legal Services (Correspondence Program, Newsletters/Resources, and Court Support)
Reentry Services (Parole Prep, Commissary Support, Backpacks for Folks’ Release Day, Reentry Job/School Scholarships, Subsidized Housing, and )
Housing Services (Subsidies, Moving Support, Hotel Vouchers, Food Aid, Referrals)
Wellness Services (Spas, Reiki, Peer Groups)
Additional Programs: Free Clothing Closet and Name Change Clinic
