A Christmas Carol for Edgar Allan Poe

This year, The National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre did so many wonderful things, with your help:

• Five new radio drama productions on National Public Radio: “The Purloined Letter,” “The Beast in the Cave,” “The Spectacles,” “Hop Frog,”  “The Pit and the Pendulum”
• Our fourth annual Doomsday 24-hour Readathon of the works of Edgar Allan Poe, streamed internationally with participants from the UK, Scotland, Italy and across the US
• A hosted presentation called “Performing Poe” at the HL Mencken House in Baltimore, with Stephen Smith of UK’s Threedumb Theatre
• Four Poe-themed mentalism and mindreading shows, called “Magic of Words,” with our resident mentalist Alexander the Pretty Good

And, most importantly, we’re rounding out the year with this international debut production of “A Christmas Carol for Edgar Allan Poe,” from award-winning author and playwright Zac Pensol.

We’re not going to lie. It was a lot to do with very limited resources. But next year will be even bigger – our fifth annual Doomsday readathon, six more NPR radio dramas, and a remounting of our cabaret style stage show, “Edgar Allan Poe’s Blood, Sweat and Fears.”

With grants to arts organizations becoming harder to come by, your tax-deductible donations are more important than ever. We literally can’t do it without you.

We hope to raise $20,000, but really, every penny counts. It will all go to The National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre’s mission of  providing quality entertainment on stage, for broadcast and in schools – while promoting the works of America’s grandfather of horror and suspense.
