The Side Door Coffeehouse is a venue for local musicians and others (professional and amateur) to share their talents, and for residents and visitors of the Midcoast community to enjoy great entertainment and conversation in a relaxed setting. Organized by a group of volunteers from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick, the Side Door Coffeehouse operates on the second Friday of every month except August.

 

Admission is $12 for adults and free for children 17 and under

The Friday, December 11th  installment will feature:

  • Open Mic signup at 6:45 pm
  • Open Mic at 7:00
  • Justin and Tyler Wood—8:30-9:30 pm.

Raised in Presque Isle, Maine Justin Wood is a saxophonist, flautist, and composer has been based in New York City since the turn of the century.   He has performed around the nation and the world with groups including the collective quartet Spoke, the Colombian brass ensemble Chia’s Dance Party, and ensembles led by the late composers Diego Obregon and Bill Lee.

Pianist Tyler Wood has carved out a multifaceted career as a musician, producer, and recording engineer.  After early forays in piano, trumpet, and drums, he landed in Brooklyn, NY and toured and recorded with artists including Luke Temple, Glass Ghost, and Joan as Police Woman.  Wood is a cofounder of the indie-soul project Oh My Goodness and works internationally as a recording engineer capturiong folkloric music traditions with the nonprofit Remix<–>Culture.   For the past 12 years he has resided in Catskill, NY where he frequently collaborates with local artists.
