WHAT I WISHED I KNEW:  Skills for parents concerned about teen drug use...from a mom who's been there!
November 14, 2024, 6:30pm-7:30pm | Zoom
Speaker:
Cordelia Kraus, LPC, CADC-I, Certified CRAFT Clinician, Invitation to Change Trainer, Sole practitioner at Vital Space, LLC, in Portland, Oregon

While it may not feel like it, parents have been shown to have a significant amount of influence (but not control) over our children’s alcohol and substance use. There are skills and perspectives we can learn, pulled from evidence-based practices, that can help us effectively use the influence that we have to tilt our children’s environment towards healthy choices in the long run… whether they are currently experimenting with alcohol or substances… or not.

In this one-hour presentation, learn a few of the skills and perspectives known to help increase effective communication, improve connection, and encourage healthier choices… and find out how you can continue learning if you find yourself hungry for more.

About Washington County Kids
Founded in 2009, our vision is one where all children can reach their full potential. WCK fills an important need as the only county-wide coordinator serving after-school and summer programs. The second most populated Oregon county, Washington County includes over 98,000 children ages 5-18. We serve as a liaison to the county’s out of school providers and facilitate networking, educational opportunities, share best practices, and foster collaboration among providers. We are also an ongoing advocate for sustainable funding to provide access to early learning, after-school, and summer programs for county kids. WCK is a 501©(3) non-profit, governed by a dedicated Board of Directors and many volunteers who work together to promote and support sustainable funding for afterschool and summer youth programs.
