Have fun learning how to repurpose at Leaders of the Next Generation's "Green Guardians" event at the Greenwich Audubon!

Leaders of the Next Generation is committed to environmental awareness and providing access to education for youth. Through community programs, advocacy, and youth involvement, LNG aims to empower the leaders of tomorrow to ensure a sustainable future. One of the most threatening factors to climate change is pollution – damaging our environment and its species. Teaching kids the dangers of climate change is vital to a hopeful future. This event will focus on the toll plastic has taken on birds. One way plastic impacts these species is that it can strangle them. In addition to this, another factor that impacts climate change, and turtles specifically, is oil spills. These cause death and famine among our bird and aquatic species. By aligning our goal with that of the Greenwich Audubon, our primary mission is to educate and inform younger generations of the challenges our environment and ecosystems are facing. LNG is holding their “Green Guardians” event at the Greenwich Audubon’s facility.

The Idea for the Day: Animals are not following their usual migration pattern. Birds aren’t going South for the winter, and the turtles in the Long Island Sound aren’t swimming to warmer climates. Your job is to figure out what is causing this disturbance in the migration pattern and how to help these animals. In order to do this, you must go to see different exhibits (stations) at our local Zoo.

We will have stations with different fun activities and games and kids will be able to take some new ideas and projects home!

LNG is a youth-led non-profit organization focused on access to education and environmental awareness. Led by Sameera Madan and Jacklyn Pizzella, they have established two main programs: free tutoring and Green Guardians. Sameera and Jacklyn are currently juniors at Greenwich High School.
