Students Celebrate America's 250th Birthday at Historic Hope Lodge by taking a Time Travel Adventure!

Elementry and Middle School level students will discover the colonial experience at Historic Hope Lodge, a Pennsylvania State Historic Site located in Fort Washington, PA

Hope Lodge, located in Whitemarsh Township Pennsylvania, is a Georgian style country estate built by Quaker businessman Samuel Morris between 1743 and 1748. The area was the location of the Whitemarsh Encampment of General George Washington and the Continental army in November and December 1777. Hope Lodge was the headquarters of Surgeon General John Cochran during that time.

During this event, students will experience what it was like to live in this community during the Colonial America and the Revolutionary War periods

Speicific topics include:

  •  Learn what people cooked in 18th Century America
  • Explore Hope Lodge and learn about the children who lived here during the 18th Century
  • Discover farming and gardening in early America
  • Challenge friends to Colonial games
