The 4th Annual Off-Kilter Cabaret: 

"Pick Your Paradox!"

The Off-Kilter Cabaret is an annual community program designed to highlight and support artists with disabilities in the creation of original performance. 

Artists selected to explore this year's theme "Pick Your Paradox!" are that of an eclectic line-up, featuring:

Laura Cannata

Sam Jasmine and Tom Lennox

Caroline Mannheimer

Rachel Orzoff

Amy Salloway

and Young Dance. 

This group, having been chosen through a public and juried call, will together present an evening of risk taking, surprising, and adventurous contemporary performing arts, including dance, comedy, poetry, and storytelling. 

Off-Leash Area, under co-artistic directors Jennifer Ilse and Paul Herwig, has a lauded 26-year history of presenting 37 original cross-disciplinary and risk-taking productions, and vital grass-roots programming. The Off-Kilter Leadership Team also includes: writer and storyteller Amy Salloway, multidisciplinary artist Gabriel Rodreick, and host of the Disability and Progress program on KFAI, Sam Jasmine. Off-Leash Area is excited to continue our partnership with Young Dance, whose mission is transforming lives through movement.

ABOUT THE THEME

Artists are asked to create a performance piece that is 5-10 minutes in length that speaks to the theme of this year's Off-Kilter Cabaret: 

"Pick Your Paradox!"

                                               "It's the beginning of the end!"                   "Less is more!"

                   "You're a beautiful wreck."                                                           "Silence speaks volumes."

                                      "We can all be alone together."              "The only constant is change!"

Is there a paradox you've noticed in your own life? Does if frustrate you to no end? Or does it explain who you are, and bring you comfort? How do we hold seemingly dissonant things at the same time - grief and joy, love and disgust, ability and disability? Is there something magical that can come from this reality of infinite realities?

The Selected Artists for the 4th Annual Off-Kilter Cabaret explore these questions in an evening length cabaret-style show at the Jungle Theater!
