About this event

Please join the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) for an in person management training designed to help public water systems strengthen long-term planning, operations and financial sustainability. 

The training will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST).

This in person training features practical, applied guidance across seven one-hour sessions: 

  • The Water Utility as a Financial Entity
  • Turning Costs and Revenues into a Budget
  • Designing Appropriate Rate Structures
  • Understanding Rates Workshop
  • Tracking and Assessing Utility Financial Performance & Workshop
  • Reserve Accounts (Which Ones, How Much Funding?) and Building Support from Your Board/Governing Body/Decision-Makers for Rates, Budgets, and Capital Improvements
  • Sources of Outside Funding and How to Apply and Rates & Finance Jeopardy

Please note that lunch will not be provided by ADEQ. You are welcome to bring your own lunch or grab lunch at a local restaurant from 12:00 - 12:50 pm.

This training is designed for public water system owners, managers, administrators and board members. Operators are also welcome to attend
