About the Facilitators:
Asiatu
Asiatu (they/them) is a neurovaried, multiply marginalized, sociologist & commUNiTY coach. They use both their education (B.A. from Spelman College) as well as their lived experiences to help others prioritize harm reduction of both themselves & others by divesting from white “supremacist” patriarchal norms. They teach people how to have healthy relationships. Their foundational understanding of collective liberation is “CommUNiTY means shrinking your i.”
Laurel
Laurel is a Jamaica-born psycho-spiritual practitioner whose mental health perspectives are formed by an understanding of how structural oppression contributes to psychological distress. These perspectives are inspired by her lived experience and her formal education in biology and psychology (BSc.), both of which facilitate her understanding of mental health issues as a product of colonial conditioning that forcibly disconnects us from the ecosystem we reside in.
