About this event
Handcraft your own pair of historically accurate, custom-fitted moccasins with colonial shoemaker Matthew Schlicksup.
All materials and instruction are provided with the registration fee. The workshop will be held inside the Fort Ligonier Center for History Education.
Mr. Schlicksup, an archaeologist, and historian of colonial footwear who practices early American cobbling for a living will also provide a brief presentation on the research behind recreating historical footwear.
Participants will have a rare and exclusive opportunity to examine a moccasin from the 1700s discovered at Fort Ligonier during archaeological field work in the 1960s.
This incredible workshop is limited to 10 participants.
There will be a 30-minute lunch break. Participants are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch or make a quick lunch stop at one of Ligonier’s dining establishments.
