About this event

In this hands-on workshop, we will learn the fundamentals of PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design using KiCad, a powerful open-source tool. We will also develop hands-on soldering skills and create a functional electronic object—an interactive digital checklist for task tracking, which can be reprogrammed for different uses! The workshop is structured into two sessions, covering the entire process from digital design to physical assembly.

No prior experience with electronics or PCB design is required!

Session 1: Designing Your PCB

Febuary 22nd 2026 - Sunday, from 2pm to 6pm
Concordia EV 6.705

Each participant will design a small PCB using a prepared schematic on Kicad, an open source software. The designs will be sent for fabrication after the session for the students interested.

  • Why and in what context developp a PCB.
  • Basics of KiCad: schematic design, PCB layout, and creative possibilities
  • Preparing files for fabrication

➡️ Between sessions: PCBs will be manufactured and prepared for assembly.

Session 2: Soldering & Assembling Your PCB

March 15th 2026 - Sunday, from 2pm to 6pm
Concordia EV 6.705

Participants will be given a pre-programmed microcontroller, and we will solder their circuits, bringing their electronic piece to life.

  • Soldering as both a technical and artistic practice
  • How to assemble and test your custom-designed PCB
