Overview
2-days program teaching healthcare providers on how to improve adult patients outcomes who are experiencing a cardiovascular emergency.
The PALS Provider 2-day course is designed to ensure healthcare providers learn the necessary skills to provide evidence-based care to patients in respiratory failure, respiratory distress, cardiac arrest or other life-threatening situations. This course reinforces use of appropriate basic life support and automated external defibrillation, and then extends skills to advanced interventions. Credited with 12 CME Hours
Topics include:
- Pediatric assessment and early recognition.
- Respiratory distress and failure management.
- Shock identification and treatment.
- Pediatric cardiac rhythm recognition.
- High quality CPR for infants and children.
- Defibrillation and cardioversion practices.
- Medication use in pediatric emergencies.
- Team communication during resuscitation.
Prerequisites
Course available only for CPER catchment area active paramedics.

To enroll into this course, you MUST have an ACTIVE CURRENT HEART AND STROKE BLS CERTIFICATE
- Current Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certificate**; and
- PALS Precourse Self-Assessment Certificate (passing score = 70%)

Duration
- 2 consecutive days of in-classroom learning; 8hrs each day.
Completion
Upon successful completion of the course, PALS Provider Certificate is provided
- Valid for 2 years
Cancellation Policy.
Once payment is submitted, no refunds will be issued. Up to fourteen days prior to the course start date, you may transfer your registration to another available course date, or transfer your spot to another individual. Any individual assuming a transferred registration must meet all prerequisites and qualifications required for successful registration. Requests made within fourteen days of the course start date will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Approval is not guaranteed and remains at the discretion of the course organizer. If minimum enrollment numbers are not met one week prior to the course start date, the course will be cancelled. Every effort will be made by CPER to avoid course cancellations.
