🌄 TOSC Hike with Hiking Bob: Aiken Canyon Edition
Saturday, June 28 | 9:00 AM
Lace up your boots, grab your sun hat, and join us for a morning hike with Colorado’s favorite trail guru—Hiking Bob! This TOSC member-exclusive trek takes us into the stunning Aiken Canyon Preserve, a rare gem where red rock spires meet lush green meadows and over 100 species of birds call home.
We’ll be taking on the full 5.5-mile adventure—starting with a moderate 3.5-mile loop and adding a scenic, easy 2-mile spur along the way. Along the way, expect expert tips from Hiking Bob himself—a seasoned outdoorsman, photographer, podcaster, and Leave No Trace advocate who literally wrote the book on hiking in the Pikes Peak region.
🦅 What makes Aiken Canyon special?
Managed by The Nature Conservancy, this 1,600-acre preserve protects one of the last pristine foothill ecosystems in the southern Front Range. Think pinyon-juniper woodlands, tallgrass prairies, and canyon views worth writing home (or tweeting) about.
📍Getting There:
Trailhead is 200 yards west of Hwy 115 on Turkey Canyon Ranch Road—about 12 miles south of Academy Blvd.
🎒What to Bring:
Plenty of water, sun protection, snacks, and good shoes. No dogs, bikes, or motorized vehicles allowed per TNC rules. Rainy days may cancel (mud is no joke out here!), and don’t forget your binoculars for peak birding opportunities.
