About this event
Experience a meditative introduction to Japanese culture through the graceful Art of Tea.
Join Rie Maywar and Nanako Horikawa Mandrino for an afternoon exploring the beauty, mindfulness, and harmony of the Japanese Art of Tea, known in English as the Tea Ceremony.
This event features a slide presentation led by Rie, paired with a live tea demonstration by Nanako titled “From Autumn to Winter.” The program will conclude with an open Q&A session, inviting attendees to reflect and connect with the experience.
Rie and Nanako, both born and raised in Japan, have practiced the Art of Tea together for seven years. Rie discovered her passion for tea during her teenage years and now shares her love of matcha through her business Ways of Matcha, offering workshops and cultural experiences that highlight both the practical and spiritual sides of this tradition. Nanako, a dance artist by profession, brings her appreciation for movement and grace into her tea practice, exploring the beautiful connection between dance and the deliberate, artful motions of tea preparation.
Together, they invite you to find peacefulness, thoughtfulness, and gratitude in the ritual of tea, a reflection of the changing seasons and the beauty found in simplicity.
