UUCB Concerts for a Cause presents Matt Nakoa at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick on Saturday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. to raise money for local charities.

Nakoa is a charismatic songwriter, singer, pianist, and guitarist who has garnered many songwriting awards, including Kerrville Folk Festival’s prestigious New Folk Competition and “Most Requested” at The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.

A modern troubadour, he makes his home on the highways and concert stages of America, touring regularly with folk music icon Tom Rush in addition to his many solo concerts.

Matt grew up on a goat farm in central New York State and trained to be a concert pianist before accepting a scholarship to Berklee College of Music as a vocalist. After college, Matt moved to New York City and further developed his guitar chops while playing with his alt-rock band at local bars, then became the star of Manhattan's famous Brandy's Piano, with fans lining up around the block every Saturday night,

His remarkable piano skills transition from Chopin to beer-soaked honkytonk in one set. His heartfelt original compositions on the guitar are nothing short of awe-inspiring.  He has developed an uncanny ability to command the attention of any audience.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and $10 for students/children and will be available at the church office, Gulf of Maine Books, or online at ticketstripe.com/mattnakoa.
