About this event
Come celebrate the Monarch Butterfly! Jane Kelley will lead a program of story, song, and facts about our favorite pollinators. Using incredible nature photographs by Thomas Lemke, Jane will discuss the life cycle of the Monarch, the reasons why the caterpillars only eat milkweed, and the great Monarch Migration. Jane will read an excerpt from her latest kids novel, GRACE AND THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT––the story of a girl’s efforts to raise monarchs. After a live performance from the Family Musical based on that novel, we’ll learn what we can do to plant pollinator gardens and help provide safe environment for the endangered Monarch Butterfly. This program is open to kids, their families, and all nature lovers.
JANE KELLEY is the author of many award-winning kids novels and science books. Her most recent novel is GRACE AND THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT. The musical by the same name will premier in 2026 at B Street Theatre in Sacramento, CA. Jane graduated from Northwestern University and has taught workshops for adults and kids all over the country. She grew up in Mequon, Wisconsin. After many years in New York City, she and her husband have returned to her childhood home in Fairy Chasm. For more information, visit https://janekelleybooks.com/
