About this event

The Knave of Knives – The Duchess of Dawn

At once dreamlike, unsettling, and absurd, Off-Leash Area’s new show introduces two strange and haunting figures from an Otherworldly Court who engage in a fantastical struggle for power over the multiverse. Taking place in an immersive installation surrounding both stage and audience, the show is performed with movement and music/sound, and is inspired (loosely!) by string theory, is populated with melancholy stuffed animals, and mysterious trophies, dispersed among the fragile threads of a clandestine karmic history.

Created and Performed by Jennifer Ilse and Paul Herwig, co-artistic directors of Off-Leash Area.

Admission is by suggested donation between $10-$30. Seating is limited to approximately 40 seats and the Garage fills up fast, so make your reservation early! You can also make your donation at the door by cash, or card via Square.

Our Garage really is our garage, so if you haven't been here before, it's in a residential neighborhood, with parking along adjacent streets. Please be respectful of our neighbors! Once you are here, follow the little arrows alongside the house and into the backyard, where an attendant will greet you near the garage door to let you in (don't come by way of the alley). Restrooms are only available after the performance (and they are not accessible, as they are on the top floor of our house).

Stick around afterwards for popcorn, drinks, and conversation by the fire!

Access: If you have a physical disability that requires accomodation please contact us 24 hours in advance.

Content: The show is entirely non-verbal, and theatrical narrative is communicated with movement and visual storytelling. There is instrumental music throughout the show. It's appropriate for ages 14+, and under 14 depends on the kid, as it is a somewhat dark and weird show. Young childen would probably be scared, but ages 9-13 may find it cool with some forewarning of what exactly happens. We're happy to have a conversation to let you know more details of what is in the show.
