SUARA SPRING 2026 CONCERT
SEVEN SONGS, SEVEN GAMES: SONGS OF S.E. ASIAN GAMES
Play lives at the heart of SE Asia—echoing across village fields, schoolyards, alleyways, and living rooms. It pulses through tug-of-war ropes stretched across dusty grounds, bursts out in fast-paced counting games, and vibrates in the rhythmic syllables of musical play. In this concert, Suara transforms the House of Explore Indonesia - LA (HEXI) into a playground, where audiences don’t just listen, but become part of the game—clapping, responding, and moving.
The concert features songs from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, the Philippines, and Myanmar, including Hela Rotan (tug of war) from Indonesia; AEIOU, a world premiere composed especially for Suara, inspired by the “red light, green light” game played across the Malay Archipelago; Pin Pin De Sarapin, a Filipino finger-counting game; Cak Anom, a Balinese musical gameplay driven by interlocking rhythms set entirely to nonsense syllables; and Lenggang Kangkung, a beloved folk song from the Malay-speaking world that cheekily references rooster fighting—a game we absolutely do not endorse!
Presented at HEXI (House of Explore Indonesia), a stunning former Art Deco bank now reimagined as a communal marketplace, the evening invites audiences into an immersive choral concert experience. The ticket and merch table opens at 7:30 PM, 30 minutes before the concert.

Suara warmly welcomes young audience members. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and remain under supervision for the duration of the concert. We appreciate your help in maintaining a fun but respectful listening space for our community.
