About this event
Following our recent visit to Llanvihangel Court, we have the opportunity to explore another fine house in Monmouthshire. Indeed Grade 1 Listed Treowen has been described as the most important early seventeenth century gentry house in Monmouthshire. Largely unaltered, the large four storey Jacobean house boasts a massive staircase rising right to the top of the house, and impressive panelling and plasterwork. It sits on the site of an earlier building, with Tudor terracing apparent in the fine gardens and possibly medieval fishponds nearby.
We will be served coffee/tea upon arrival, and then shown around by John Wheelock, whose family bought the house in 1954.
This is a private event for members of the Friends of Herefordshire Museums and Arts and invited associate organisations. If you’d like to come along, it’s easy to join the FHMA for £15 a year for an individual, or £25 for a couple. Email enquiries@fhma.org.uk with your request and contact details.
