About this event

We are happy to announce our 4th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Skating Event to benefit the homeless in our community. This year is very exciting! We are hosting a "Versus" style event....No it's not a rap battle, but Santa and The Grinch are going toe to toe on the rink. Whose team are you on?

Many of you know that we started fundraising FOUR winters ago for our homeless neighbors. We had a successful fundraiser and were able to deliver many items such as socks, blankets, and clothing. This year we want to expand our giving and you can help! This year we will be raising money to not only purchase new socks, warm blankets, and winter coats but also to help out with our friends at new journey church  & Reading High School's program who provide meals on a daily basis through volunteer hours and volunteer meals. If you Don’t know our story check out our page at Gigi and Emi’s Warm Winter Project.

Skateaway skate center in Shillington is a large skating rink where we will skate, dance, eat, play games, and of course give away lots of prizes. We have a grand prize drawing and multiple giveaways, gift baskets, and gift cards. There will be music, a bake sale, and the snack bar will be open for all.

Children and adults of all ages are welcome and this event is open to the public. May bring your own skates/rollerblades or we will provide a rental for you at a small fee ($5). There are trainers available for the small children who are unable to skate on their own ($5). Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Most importantly bring your ugliest, most outrageous, brightly colored, crazy ugly Christmas sweater. There will be winners chosen for first, second, and third place along with family and most holiday spirit (Cheermeister Award). Prizes will be awarded. And there will also be a prize for most creative family sweaters for families of more than two people. If you missed it last year you can see all the photos and awards online! This is an event you don't want to miss!

Santa is coming to town...but someone else is coming too!! Will Santa bring toys and joy or will The Grinch steal Christmas?

There will be no fee to enter the Ugly Sweater contest, although donation are accepted and welcomed!

The snack bar will be open at Skateaway’s usual pricing.

If you would like to individually sponsor the event or if you are a business owner and would like to sponsor this event please contact Us through the Facebook app at Gigi and Emi’s Warm Winter Project page. Hurry and get on the list of sponsors and you will have your own place on our official event T-shirt along with bragging rights for helping your community! Note: Individual and corporate sponsors will need to provide either $100 of monetary donation or product to share name or logo on the back of the T-shirt. All other contributors less than $100 will still be published in the event program and featured at the event on our bucket filler’s board!!

I hope to see everyone there! Let’s celebrate this Christmas 2025, have a little fun doing it, and help our fellow brothers and sisters in need! God bless ❤️

Please note all funds will be used to directly assess the homeless population in Berks county and will help us directly distribute items to those who need it the most. The funds raised at this event will not go to repayment of funds used for the event. 100% of the money will go toward the homeless. A portion of the money will also benefit local organizations who tirelessly volunteer each day with food, personal items, outreach and thousands of volunteer hours for our community relying on community donations.

Thank you to all in our community who make this event special each year!!!
