About this event
Join us on Thursday, June 19, from 7 – 9 PM for the next Reel Spirit Movie Project. We will discuss the film Conclave (2024), starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, Johh Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini. A fictional dive behind the scenes of the process and politics of electing a new Pope, Conclave explores timeless themes of power, folly, grace, and redemption.
Of the film, RSMP veteran Terry Decker remarked, "I will admit, I got a little lost in the grand and rigid formality of Catholic Popery before being thrust into many recurring themes of our human condition as exposed in the edifices of patriarchy, the calling for justice, the granting of grace, and the resilience of human spirit."
Conclave was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Film, Actor (Fiennes), and Supporting Actress (Rossellini). It won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Please view the film before the online discussion on June 19. Conclave is streaming on Amazon Prime.
CSW Associate Terry Decker will be the facilitator for the Conclave discussion. He is a Brevard resident who loves movies and volunteers his time and talent to the Center. He is a repeat facilitator for The Reel Spirit Movie Project and A Little About A Lot. He has years of experience leading groups in education, non-profit, religious, and technical forums.
There is no fee to participate in this two-hour discussion. However, a suggested donation of $8 will be gratefully accepted and help us continue offering this and similar events.
